Nipras had recently set up a new factory that was 3X bigger than their current facility. Thus were hungry to capture more sales and reap the returns of their investment. More sales would result in better use of their fixed costs such as management, manpower, and depreciation. However, capturing sales required buying raw materials with cash upfront (as suppliers weren’t giving them credit on the terms they wanted), manufacturing and delivering the products, and then getting paid. Such payment cycles typically take 90 days or more.
